Roy Lichtenstein (born 1923) is an American artist best known for his pop art paintings. He lived in New York City for most of his life, and is perhaps best known for his comic book style works. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Tate Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, and other institutions. Lichtenstein has received many awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship in 1989.
